Ford Sollers is continuing to develop localization projects. From now on, multi-leaf springs for Ford Transit will made of Russian steel in full compliance with the global quality standards of the Ford Motor Company by the Chusovoy Metallurgical Works (CMW AO, Perm Region, part of the United Metallurgical Company (OMK AO, Moscow).
The vertical production localization of Ford Transit vehicles is a development priority for Ford Sollers. This process aims to have the entire production chain, from raw material extraction to the manufacturing of finished components, located within Russia.
The conclusion of an agreement with the Chusovoy Metallurgical Works (CMW) for the supply of vehicle multi-leaf springs is a new step in the localization process. Cooperation between Ford Sollers and CMW started in 2019 with the supply of single-leaf springs. Based on the results of this cooperation, the delivery of more technically complex multi-leaf springs was also entrusted to this plant. From August 2020, all Ford Transit springs will be produced from Russian raw materials in Russia.
The multi-leaf springs have passed all steps of the installation tests, a full cycle of dynamic machine testing, as well as road tests. The results of the tests confirmed their full compliance with international standards and the quality requirements of Ford Motor Company.
The manufacture of Ford Transit is established at the Ford Sollers plant in Elabuga using full-cycle technology, which allows us to offer Russian buyers a modern product at a competitive price, one which is fully customized in accordance with the buyer's requirements and adapted to Russian conditions.
