Full-cycle production of Sollers ST6 and Sollers ST8 AWD pickup trucks has been launched at the UAZ industrial facility. The first serially produced vehicles rolled off the production line in the presence of the Ulyanovsk Region Governor Alexey Russkikh, SOLLERS PJSC’s Chairman of the Board of Directors Adil Shirinov, and SOLLERS PJSC’s CEO Nikolay Sobolev.
To produce the Sollers ST6 and ST8, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant commissioned a 130-meter-long welding line and a chassis assembly line fitted with state-of-the-art equipment. The painting and assembly shops have also been substantially upgraded.
Bodies for the new pickup trucks are assembled together with those of the UAZ vehicle family, and the final assembly is carried out on a new production line specially built for the Sollers ST6 and ST8.
The new production line is integrated into the IT systems for logistics management (WMS), production management (MES) and quality management (QLS).
‘The UAZ industrial site has historically strong competencies in the manufacture of frame vehicles, and the launch of full-cycle production for new Sollers pickup trucks is poised to drive further development of site infrastructure and promote technological and localisation synergies across the brands. We see good prospects for growth in the pickup truck segment and plan to become a leader in this class, replacing imported counterparts. Later, we are going to add one more model to the lineup,’ SOLLERS PJSC’s CEO Nikolay Sobolev said.
‘The launch of new production facilities indicates that a comfortable business climate has been created in the region, providing all necessary conditions for successful implementation of investment projects. Over the past two years, SOLLERS has launched several major investment projects in Ulyanovsk. This means new jobs, new production lines, and modernisation of manufacturing. For our part, we continue to support our mainstay enterprise by providing a workforce, through our employment service, that is actively employed here. The launch of new production is another contribution to the region’s industrial development. According to the results of 11 months of 2024, the industrial production index in the Ulyanovsk Region amounted to 114.5%, putting the region first in the Volga Federal District and fifth in the country. We intend to improve our positions, so we will continue to create all the necessary conditions for industrial development,’ Alexey Russkikh remarked.
Sollers AWD vehicles are equipped with Russian-made power units. Two-litre 136 hp diesel engines are produced at the engine plant in Elabuga, and the manufacture of six-speed manual transmissions has been organised at SOLLERS Transmission Production in Zavolzhye. As an alternative, the Sollers ST6 can be equipped with a 2-litre 176 hp turbo gasoline engine, and the Sollers ST8 with a 2.4-litre 204 hp engine.
The new Sollers ST8 pickup truck combines innovative and proven technologies. The vehicle features an impressive set of safety systems and electronic assistants, and a state-of-the art cabin interior equipment. Ground clearance reaches 210 mm and payload capacity is 900 kg.
The Sollers ST6 has been on the Russian market for more than a year now and has proven itself to be a reliable and low-maintenance AWD pickup truck. In 2024, more than 3,500 such vehicles were sold.
The Ulyanovsk-made Sollers ST6 and Sollers ST8 pickup trucks will be available in dealerships in the first quarter of 2025.
