18.08.2023 16:00:00

Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin and SOLLERS PJSC Board of Directors Chairman Adil Shirinov visited the production shop of a new enterprise, SOLLERS Transmission Production, which has begun implementing a project to organise transmission production. The project is being implemented at the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant industrial site.

The programme of the visit included presentation of the project and of the production technologies to be created. Serial production of 6-speed manual transmissions is scheduled to be launched in the second quarter of 2024 under the umbrella of the SOLLERS PJSC subsidiary SOLLERS Transmission Production. The enterprise will assemble and test the transmissions, with plans to localise the technological operations of casting and machine-tooling crankcases, and in the longer term, achieving full domestic production of all major transmission parts. The project envisions the manufacture of 7,000 units in 2024, growing in the future to 50,000 units per year. The transmissions will be fitted on Sollers light commercial vehicles and UAZ vehicles.

The project’s start coincided with the 65th anniversary of the Zavolzhsky Motor Plant. Nizhny Novgorod Region Governor Gleb Nikitin remarked that today the enterprise is a modern high-tech facility with a robust production base, developed infrastructure, professional staff, vast experience and strong traditions.

‘The anniversary is not merely a date, but also the specific result of the input made by several generations of plant workers – from those who were there at the beginning to those who work at the modernised facility today. Today the enterprise is developing not only as an engine maker, but also as a full-fledged industrial park accommodating the production facilities of 18 domestic companies. Implementation of this new project at the site is an important step for the automotive industry,’ Gleb Nikitin stressed.

‘We continue to implement the group’s strategy to develop industrial competence centres specialising in the localisation of key technological solutions for light commercial vehicles and SUVs. Localising production of power units for the Sollers and UAZ car families is expected to boost our competitiveness and ensure production growth,’ PJSC SOLLERS Board of Directors Chairman Adil Shirinov remarked. According to Adil Shirinov, the new project is poised to become a driver of production growth, will create jobs, and will contribute to the development of industrial potential in the Trans-Volga (also known as Zavolzhye) area.

Investments in the project will amount to more than RUB 600 mln. The project will create about 100 new jobs.
