On August 30, 2019, the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant’s official distributors started to take pre-orders for the UAZ Patriot with automatic transmission. The official website www.uaz.ru now has a dedicated page where would-be-customers can configure their automatic UAZ Patriot and place advance orders.
The UAZ Patriot automatic will be available in four versions: Optimum, Premium, Status and Edition I. The minimum price of the automatic model is RUB 1,034,000 without promotions or special offers. The basic version comes with two airbags, antilock braking system with electronic brakeforce distribution, air conditioning, a refrigerated glove compartment, rearview mirror heating and an extra interior heater.
The Premium version adds light-alloy wheels, electronic stability control with hill start assist, climate control, athermal glass, heated windscreen, front and rear seat heating, cruise control, a multifunctional steering wheel with heating and leather trim, and a multimedia system with a seven-inch touchscreen and navigator. The Status option adds leather seat trimming, a back-seat armrest with cup holders, a rearview camera with dynamic guidelines, a safe parking system with front and back sensors, and redesigned 18-inch wheels.
Only 300 units of the top-of-the-range Edition I version will be produced, all of them colored in exclusive Titan Gray. This special version’s interior has been transformed thanks to reengineered front seats with side supports, black or brown perforated leather trim and embossed backs. In front of the gear shift, a chromium plaque will display the car’s unique identity number (one of 300), while the carpets bear the name of this special series.
All these versions of the UAZ Patriot come equipped with a PUNCH Powerglide 6L50 automatic gearbox delivered to the Ulyanovsk plant’s assembly line from the PUNCH Powerglide factory in Strasbourg, France.
The six-speed gearbox with torque converter provides huge reserves of power, with maximum output of 320 HP and maximum torque of 500 Nm. Another advantage of the model is better fuel-economy than the equivalent Patriot with manual transmission. For example, on the open road with a constant speed of 90 km/h, fuel economy can reach 2 liters per 100 km.
Mass production of the UAZ Patriot with automatic transmission begins on September 1, 2019. The launch was preceded by endurance testing, and in the final series of tests the automatic Patriot visited 8 cities in two weeks: Ulyanovsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar. The vehicle covered an additional 15,000 kilometers on the road while participating in customer test drives and four events for the press and auto bloggers.
